Hospice of Michigan
Fund Raiser
2008 Tournament Pictures and Results!
Please plan on joining us Sunday, June 1st for a very special event. Walleye 101 will be hosting a fishing day with all proceeds being donated to the Hospice of Michigan. Holloway Reservoir near Flint will be the venue and a full day of fishing, fun and food is planned. Due to limited space at both the boat ramp and dinner venue, acceptance will be verified by e-mail and will be based on earliest post marks on paid entry forms. Please completely read the rules before signing the entry form.
For those of you wondering what the funds we raise will go toward here is a little information on the Hospice of Michigan from their acceptance letter.
"The fishing tournament will help to support Hospice of Michigan's Open Access Program. The Open Access Program at Hospice of Michigan provides services to every patient regardless of their diagnosis or their ability to pay. It assures that every patient, regardless of circumstance, is accepted and receives the most comprehensive care available. It costs HOM approximately $3 million each year beyond what is reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance to carry out this commitment."
Hopefully you will find this to be as worthy of a cause as I do and want to join us for the joy of fishing and helping others.
After the day of fishing there will be a dinner/awards ceremony/prize raffle/donation presentation held at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Flint, just minutes from Holloway Reservoir. Please plan on attending the dinner and spending some time enjoying the company of other anglers, sharing fishing stories and a great meal!
We are planning on holding a full blown "weigh in" at the ramp, but prizes will not be awarded based on weight of fish. We want to keep the day fun, so have decided eliminate the competition associated with a tournament and instead will award raffle tickets for specific fish species, largest weight, most species caught etc. A full list of the rules is available through the link below.
We encourage all to attend and participate in this day of fun fishing. Entry fee is $30/person and includes dinner. We strongly encourage you to include youngsters and friends who don't do much fishing in your crew.
I will need LOTS of help running the tournament! If you can help please send me an e-mail and let me know. We also need prizes/gift certificates/merchandise and operating cash donated to help make this event a huge success for the Hospice. If you know someone who can donate or if you are willing to spend some time working to get donations, let me know and I will send you an information packet that you can give to potential sponsors which explains what we are doing and how they can benefit from helping. If you contact me, please do so by e-mail at lance@walleye101.com and please include your mailing address and phone number.
